In recent chats, I've found that many people have a common issue: they want everything.
It reminds me of a saying: "Only children make choices; adults want it all." Of course, many people say this jokingly, but upon closer inspection, it’s actually true.
For instance, many people's businesses may involve traffic generation, products, and conversion, but often they hope to flourish in all areas, resulting in poor performance across the board. However, only by giving up some existing things can we focus our energy on doing well with what we have. For example, I might first concentrate on traffic generation, and then collaborate with others who provide products, allowing me to earn income solely from CPA and CPS.
Take the example of many people selling products; they rush to convert sales even when their products are not polished and not ready for delivery. They don’t think about improving sales conversion and haven’t clarified their sales SOP, yet they hurriedly try to increase the average order value.
We can easily fall into a trap of only seeing the current problem and solving it. Often, when you consult friends, they will break down your issue and provide a solution. Interestingly, you might then raise another question, and the other person may struggle to offer a solution.
In "The Road Less Traveled," there’s an example of a person who was an alcoholic. When suggested to find another interest to replace drinking, he mentioned he liked reading but claimed he was too busy during the day and too tired at night to read. Then, the suggestion was made to take up fishing instead of drinking, to which he replied that he liked fishing, but the fishing spots were too far and it was too much trouble. Ultimately, he couldn’t find anything to replace his drinking and was eventually fired due to his alcoholism.
Did you notice? Often, we cannot give up because we don’t understand what we truly want. In the previous example, his favorite thing was drinking; despite the negative consequences of alcoholism, he couldn’t let it go. The underlying reason was his desire to escape from current pain. When we can see the pain and confront it directly, viewing the problem from a higher perspective, we can make better choices.
Only by giving up those things that hinder our progress can we move further.
